A PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE TO THE U.S. CONSTITUTION

INTRODUCTION
The well known Pledge of Allegiance to the U.S. Flag was adopted by Congress in 1942 and was later modified with the addition of the words "under God" in 1954. To this citizen, the official pledge lacks substance and is focused on the wrong target---a flag, the symbol of our nation. It should focus on the basis of our form of government---the Constitution.

In 1997, I started using a more suitable pledge with the following wording. Since then, I have carried the new wording on slips of paper in my billfold as handouts. When someone expresses an interest, I give them a copy. Five reproductions of this pledge are printed below.
